DEA Guidelines – Studio Schedule

Team Spirit and Support:

We encourage all dancers to be in the audience cheering on their teammates whenever possible. Your presence can create an uplifting atmosphere and foster a sense of camaraderie. We understand that there may be quick changes and food breaks needed, but we hope that dancers will prioritize supporting each other, as it enhances our team spirit and builds lasting memories.

Backstage Preparation:

Dancers are required to be backstage in costume, with hair and makeup completed, one hour before their scheduled performance. We want to run each piece backstage before they go on stage for their performance. We recognize that quick changes may present challenges, and we will work closely with those dancers to accommodate that.

Saturday Schedule:
  • Arrival: Dancers should arrive at 7:15 AM to check in with the studio backstage.
  • Warm-Up: We will lead a required all-company warm-up for all dancers at 7:30 AM.
  • First Dance: Our first dance is the very first performance of the competition at 8:00 AM!

Golden Rule:

It’s very important to us that we create a healthy and respectful competition environment. We ask that our dancers and families remain kind and supportive towards all participants, as they are our colleagues. Let’s wish everyone good luck as they perform! Building friendships with dancers from other studios can enrich the experience for everyone.

Dress Code:

Company dancers should wear their company jackets when not in costume and during award ceremonies. Also, a helpful packing list is available on the Company portal for our first-time families: Suggested Packing List

Sunday Morning Meeting:

On Sunday, all dancers should meet in the lobby at 7:00 AM with their bags, ready to start the day. We will distribute wristbands for entry into the convention classes at that time. Attendance at all convention classes is mandatory, even if a dancer is unfamiliar with the style being taught. This is a learning weekend!  If a dancer needs to be excused from a class or wishes to sit out, they must message Katrina or Kayla for approval in advance. Unexcused absences or sitting out without prior communication will not be acceptable.

Communication via TeamSnap:

We will be using the TeamSnap app for direct communication with families during the event. This platform will allow us to share updates quickly and for families to reach out with any questions or concerns. If you need a resend of the invitation, please let us know. We hop  this tool will help everyone stay informed throughout the busy weekend!

Real-Time Updates with Dakiki:

We also recommend the Dakiki app for real-time updates on which dances are on stage. While this is not our app, it is a helpful resource to stay informed during the competition.
