A Note From our Nutcracker Director
Welcome to our annual Nutcracker Production, we’re thrilled you can join us!
Nutcracker roles are carefully given based on age, size, and skill level. Students might be in a particular dance for several years, but the dance may be choreographed or costumed differently, or they will dance different parts of the same dance; then as the dancer matures, they may and often should be given the opportunity to master a particular top roll and thereby be cast again in it! If they aspire to certain roles and did not make it this year, we encourage them to keep working hard at their technique and to try again next year! Coveted roles are earned based on several factors; the dancer’s technical ability, stage presence and performance quality, all play a part in these decisions.
Additionally, we are looking at the dancer’s full body of work here at the studio, which includes their audition as well as their presence and work in regularly scheduled classes throughout the dance year. Another factor is the costume quantity; our costumes are already purchased, and we need to coordinate dancers with our existing costumes. Enjoy growing, discovering and embracing many new challenges and accomplishments on your journey from studio to stage!

Participation Information
Rehearsal Information
- We have only 9 weekends of rehearsals to get performance ready! We will try to set the schedule as much in advance as we can. The rehearsal times for your student’s dances depend on teacher schedules, what size room it needs, who can rehearse opposite them in another room, how many “layers” there are in the dance, and the age/experience of the dancers. We have approximately 40 dances to teach in 9 weeks with 6 teachers, 4 studios and dozens of kids!
- Rehearsals are scheduled for Saturdays 10:00am-6:30pm and Sundays 12:30-6:30pm. These are our blocks for rehearsal times, you will not be scheduled for the entire time. We try our best to schedule the youngest dancers for only one day for a few hours.
- Always send water and a non-messy snack with your dancer! For very young dancers we will often schedule in a snack break if it’s a long rehearsal. Also, make sure names are in all ballet shoes, since they are often left behind.
Rehearsal Schedule
- Weekend #1 for our full cast is October 4th and 5th (Earlier Rehearsal for Waltz of the Flowers Only)
- We will not rehearse the weekend of second weekend of Fall Break (we do have rehearsals Oct 11/12 but NOT Oct 18/19)
- We will not rehearse the weekend of Thanksgiving Weekend (Nov 19/30).
- Photo Day: Sunday, Dec 14th
- Mandatory In Studio Dress Rehearsal at Parker Dance: Saturday, Dec 13th.
- Mandatory Theatre Dress Rehearsal at Ponderosa High School: Thursday, Dec 18th
- Performances Dates: Friday, December 19th at 7pm & Saturday, December 20st at 2pm with a tentative 7pm
Participation Fee
- The Performance Fee is $380 (can be split in two payments). This covers: all 9 studio
rehearsals, the dress rehearsal at the theater, a free T shirt, the digital videos of both shows, and all costume fittings and costumes. (Tickets, professional pictures, additional dvd’s, dancewear, shoes and tights not included)
Participation Acceptance
If you plan to participate, please fill out the online acceptance form to let us know you have formally agreed to participate. Students are allowed to miss 2 rehearsals at the most, however we discourage students from missing more than one rehearsal as 10 weeks goes by very quickly and there is much to learn to be performance ready. Please submit your acceptance by Tuesday, Sept 24th.
Nutcracker Acceptance Form
Nutcracker Roles
This sheet breaks down the Nutcracker Ballet by acts, scenes, and dances. This is extremely helpful for those who are new to Nutcracker. Early rehearsals are when the many “layers” of dances are rehearsed independently, then gradually we start to combine the dances to create the “scene” or “Act”. Some parts may vary in their name and not all parts are always danced.

Rehearsal Schedule Week 1-3 Outline
The rehearsal schedule will be posted weekly on Mondays on the Nutcracker 2025 Page, based on the needs of the teachers and scenes each week. The first three weeks have already been posted: Nutcracker 2024 Rehearsal Schedule. The schedule will remain the same “for the most part” during the first few weeks; dances won’t change the day they rehearse (for example, bounce between Saturday and Sunday), but might vary in start and end times within their given day. Please make sure to review it before you come, as changes may occur and will be put in red.
Important Note: This information packet will NOT contain updates. The full week-to-week rehearsal schedule with the weekly updates will be posted on the Nutcracker 2024 Rehearsal Schedule.
