Character Auditions
Character Auditions:
– Saturday March 29th, time schedule and info below
– 5th grade – 12th grade attending PDA
– $10 audition fee
– Audition Form Submission Deadline: Thursday, March 27th
About the Audition:
We choose our character’s based on age and acting abilities, not just dance abilities, which means all levels are welcome to come and audition if they are 5th grade or older. It’s best if you audition for as many parts as possible! The more the better! We can work with a reasonable quick change but nothing that would stall out the show, so how many dances you are in will be part of deciding your character. Main characters may be double cast.
Rehearsals for the cast of characters will take place during the weekends at the end of May and beginning of June, with possible extra rehearsals during the daytime in June after school is out. Characters might also be asked to attend certain classes throughout April, May and June if a teacher has choreographed them into a dance as their character

In a park on a summer day, a young girl named Alice with her cat, Dinah, listens distractedly to her sister’s reading and begins daydreaming of a nonsensical world. She spots a passing White Rabbit in a waistcoat, who panics of being late. Alice follows him but ends up plummeting down a rabbit hole and lands in a place called Wonderland. She finds a tiny door with a bottle on a table nearby that says “drink me”. She does so and shrinks, but has left the key on the table. Alice then eats a cookie that says “eat me” which causes her to grow excessively. Now she can’t fit through the small door and follow the Rabbit! Exasperated by these changes, she cries and floods the room with her big tears. She drinks again from a bottle to shrink and drowns in her own tears. Finally she swims through the small door. As Alice continues to look for the Rabbit she encounters Tweedledum and Tweedledee. She then sees the Rabbit and follows him to his house, where Alice finds and eats another cookie and grows giant, getting stuck in the house! Thinking her a monster, the Rabbit asks the Dodo to help expel her. When the Dodo decides to burn the house down! Alice escapes by eating a carrot which causes her to shrink to her original size.
Continuing to follow the Rabbit, Alice comes upon a garden of flowers. Alice then encounters a Caterpillar asking “Who are you?” and blowing smoke rings. The Caterpillar turns into a butterfly and levitates away. Next she meets the mischievous Cheshire Cat, whose smile keeps fading in and out. Walking further into the woods she comes upon a Mad Hatter, March Hare, and a Dormouse having a tea party celebration. The Hatter and the Hare keep switching seats and making no sense. Alice finally decides they are all mad. Leaving the woods, Alice tries to find the Queen of Hearts hoping she might be able to take her home. In the Queen’s garden Alice finds beautiful white roses. Then she meets gardeners (who are playing cards) that are trying to paint the white rosebushes red. The Queen appears in all her glamour. She eventually invites Alice to play a game of croquet. The queen proclaims that the game should begin! But first, she asks Alice to curtsy to the Queen. The croquet game starts but the balls and hoops move around in the Queen’s favor. Nevertheless, Alice wins and the enraged Queen proclaims “Off with her head!” forcing Alice to flee through the deteriorating realm with a large crowd of Wonderland’s inhabitants in pursuit. Alice suddenly finds herself waking from her dream and back with her sister still reading and her cat Dinah.
